Our History

Precision Auto was founded in 1995 by Robert Thompson, a Seattle native with a lifelong passion for cars. What started as a small, two-bay garage in the Ballard neighborhood has grown into a full-service auto repair shop serving the entire Seattle metropolitan area. Robert's vision was simple: provide honest, reliable, and high-quality auto repair services at fair prices. He believed that building trust with customers was the key to success, and that philosophy remains at the heart of Precision Auto today.

In the early years, Precision Auto focused primarily on routine maintenance services such as oil changes, brake repairs, and tire rotations. As the business grew, Robert invested in advanced diagnostic equipment and training for his technicians, allowing Precision Auto to expand its services to include engine repair, transmission work, and complex electrical diagnostics. The shop quickly gained a reputation for its expertise in both domestic and foreign vehicles, attracting customers from all walks of life.

In 2010, Robert's daughter, Emily Thompson, joined the business after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in business administration. Emily brought a fresh perspective to Precision Auto, implementing new technologies and marketing strategies to enhance the customer experience and expand the company's reach. She also spearheaded the development of a comprehensive online presence, including a user-friendly website and social media channels, making it easier for customers to schedule appointments and access valuable information about their vehicles.
